Fe-lanthropy describes social engagement and charitable action that is initiated, led, or shaped by women.
In short: Felanthropy = women who want to make the world a little better with heart, mind, and energy.
More and more women are shaking up the scene – with new ideas, clear values, and a focus on justice. They target their money toward social change, thereby strengthening organizations that are often overlooked. Here we present some of these inspiring initiatives.
1. bff – Frauen gegen Gewalt e.V.
bff is a nationwide association of over 200 specialist counseling centers that support women and girls experiencing violence.
What is their focus? Violence against women is a structural problem – bff campaigns for prevention, protection, and better political frameworks. In addition to direct counseling, the association also works on educational offers and raises public awareness of gender-based violence.
Why support? Because every third woman in Germany is affected by violence. The bff helps directly and changes structures in the long term.

2. FAIR SHARE of Women Leaders
FAIR SHARE of Women Leaders works for a civil society sector that champions fair representation of women in leadership and lives a feminist leadership culture.
What is their focus? They compile up-to-date figures on gender distribution annually – internationally with currently 66 organizations and in Germany with already 180 NGOs and foundations – making how the sector changes from year to year transparent, measurable, and comparable in a ranking.
Why support? Because equality in leadership positions, and thus in significant role-model functions for young women, is far from being achieved. Anyone who donates here invests in more visibility and opportunities for women.

3. filia.die frauenstiftung
filia is a feminist foundation founded by committed women who fund women's projects worldwide.
What is their focus? filia specifically supports women's organizations fighting for equality, self-determination, and participation. Particularly important: women themselves decide which projects are supported.
Why support? Because filia works directly with women on the ground – unbureaucratically, effectively, and with long-term commitment.

4. medica mondiale
Doctor Monika Hauser founded medica mondiale in 1993 after seeing the suffering of raped women in the Bosnian War.
What is their focus? Support for traumatized women in war and crisis zones. In addition to medical and psychological aid, the organization also campaigns politically against sexualized wartime violence.
Why support? Because women are often invisible in wars. medica mondiale gives them protection, healing, and a voice.
5. BIWOC* Rising
BIWOC* Rising is an intersectional empowerment project aimed at strengthening the social, professional, and economic participation of marginalized women, trans, intersex, and non-binary people*.
What is their focus? They support women, trans, and non-binary people affected by intersectional discrimination. By creating a safer co-working space and network, as well as holding workshops and trainings for our members, we foster collective social, professional, and economic growth – and strengthen resistance against oppression from an intersectional perspective.
Why support? Because racism and sexism often work together – and targeted support is vital to dismantle structural disadvantage.
